Common Toilet Problems in Norwich Homes — and How We Fix Them
From running cisterns to leaking bases — the most common toilet faults we see across Norwich and how they're repaired.
Running cistern
Most common fault. Fill valve or flap valve failure. Fixed in under an hour in most cases. Parts carried on our van for all major brands.
Toilet won't flush
Usually a broken flush lever mechanism or handle. We replace the siphon assembly or flap valve depending on cistern type. In some cases it's simply a snapped chain — a 10-minute fix.
Leaking at the base
Water pooling around the toilet base almost always means a failed pan connector seal or wax ring. We remove the toilet, replace the sealing component, and refit with new fixings.
Seat keeps slipping
A loose seat is usually plastic fittings that have worn. Replacement seats and fitting kits are inexpensive — we carry universal fit sets on the van.
Toilet rocking or unstable
A rocking toilet can crack the pan connector and cause leaks. Usually fixed with new floor anchors. In older properties with uneven floors, we use adjustable feet.
Concealed cistern faults
Wall-hung toilets with concealed cisterns are more complex to access but not impossible to repair. We carry access panels and frame-specific parts for Geberit, Grohe, and Roca systems.
